Copenhagen is not only a city of design, hygge and bicycles, but also increasingly a city of conscious eating. If you follow a gluten-free diet, you don't have to worry: the Danish capital offers a variety of restaurants, cafes and bakeries offering delicious alternatives. I've collected the best places I've tried, so you can enjoy a gastronomic experience - completely gluten-free.
42 Raw – the plant-based and gluten-free delight
Located in the heart of downtown, 42 Raw is one of the city's most popular vegan and gluten-free restaurants. In a modern, minimalist setting, they offer smoothie bowls, colorful salads, wraps, sandwiches and desserts - all made with gluten-free ingredients. Whether you're looking for breakfast or a light lunch, you're sure to find something to your liking here.

La Galette – French atmosphere without gluten
If you are looking for something special, La Galette is the perfect choice. This authentic French creperie offers the famous galette bretonne – a savory and sweet pancake made from buckwheat flour, which is naturally gluten-free. The galettes filled with ham, cheese, vegetables, eggs or even fish are not only delicious, but also fit for a substantial dinner. For dessert, you can choose from the smaller but equally divine sweet versions. I have visited this place several times because it is a relatively inexpensive way to have a filling dinner. As it turns out, the restaurant is truly authentic, because the owner is French, and I also liked the design, he is very friendly. In good weather, you can also enjoy the delicious dishes on the terrace.

HUG Bageri – gluten-free pastries
You can't imagine Denmark without pastries, but what if you're gluten-sensitive? HUG Bageri is the answer: a completely gluten-free bakery where you can taste freshly baked breads, cinnamon rolls (yes, gluten-free!), muffins and cakes. A real haven for those who don't want to give up the Danish pastry experience. I did a lot of shopping here, and it was a great place to grab a bite to eat while walking around.

Emmerys – organic and conscious
Emmerys, a chain of organic bakeries and cafes with locations throughout the city , also offers gluten-free options. While not entirely gluten-free, they always have a selection of safe cakes, breads and snacks. It's the perfect stop for a coffee and a sweet treat while you're out and about.

The Bronx Burger Bar – gluten-free burger in Copenhagen
If you're looking for a hearty, American-style dinner, head to The Bronx Burger Bar! You can order classic burgers on gluten-free buns, so you don't have to give up the tasty burgers, crispy fries, and street food atmosphere. Plus, it's never crowded, at least that's what I experienced both times I dined here.

Ristorante Italiano – Italian flavors gluten-free
For lovers of Italian cuisine, the good news is that Ristorante Italiano in Copenhagen also prepares classic dishes with gluten-free pasta. The pasta dishes and pizzas, combined with fresh, homemade sauces, are guaranteed to bring back the flavors of Italy without you having to worry about gluten. This restaurant is very popular with locals, so you can expect a wait in the evening, but it's worth it. The food is very tasty and plentiful, and a lovely singer will entertain you with Italian songs during dinner.
